When KOBELCO excavator displays error codes starting with D and E, such as D012 and E013, they are a solenoid valve problem. Knowing the troubleshooting method, but not knowing the location of the solenoid valve and which solenoid valves are interchangeable, many friends who encounter this kind of problem are at a loss. Today, we will solve all these troubles for you.
1. Locations of Solenoid Valves on KOBELCO Excavators
1.1 SK60

SK60 has a total of two solenoid valves, namely the safety lock solenoid valve and the travel 1, 2 speed solenoid valves. The two are interchangeable.
1.2 SK75

SK75 has three proportional solenoid valves, namely SV-4 safety lock solenoid valve, SV-3 travel 1, 2 speed solenoid valve and SV-1 swing brake solenoid valve. SV-3 in the picture above can be interchanged with SV-4.
1.3 SK130&140

SK130 and SK140 have a total of 7 solenoid valves. The two solenoid valves SV-3 and SV-4 in the picture above are interchangeable and the three proportional solenoid valves PSV-B, PSV-C, and PSV-D are interchangeable.
1.4 20T-40T

The 20T-40T excavator has 8 solenoid valves. The three solenoid valves SV-2, SV-3 and SV-4 in the picture above are interchangeable. The three solenoid proportional valves PSV-B, PSV-C and PSV-D are interchangeable.
2. Functions of Solenoid Valves on KOBELCO Excavators
SV-4: Safety Lock Solenoid Valve
Function: When the locking lever is lowered, the safety lock solenoid valve is in the energized state, and the pilot oil passage is connected after the solenoid valve is switched.
SV-1: Swing Brake Solenoid Valve
Function: The swing solenoid valve is powered off when operating the rotation, the valve core does not switch, and the pilot oil passages through the rotary motor to the brake piston to release the brake.
SV-3: Travel 1, 2 Speed Solenoid Valve
Function: Responsible for travel speed switching between 1 and 2 speed.
SV-2: Booster Solenoid Valve
Function: The excavator has a pressure booster device to improve excavation strength.
PSV-B: P2 Unloading Proportional Valve
Function: This valve controls the opening state of the P2 unloading spool, so that the pressure oil that has not participated in the work of the hydraulic system returns to the hydraulic oil tank, eliminating the residual pressure of each actuator.
PSV-C: Straight Travel Proportional Valve
Function: When the excavator performs compound action operations, this valve keeps its travel straight.
PSV-D: P1 Unloading Proportional Valve
Function: This valve controls the opening state of the P1 unloading spool, allowing the pressure oil that has not participated in the work of the hydraulic system to return to the hydraulic oil tank, eliminating the residual pressure of each actuator.
PSV-A: 2 Speed Inverse Proportional Valve
Function: When the small arm performs a retraction action, this valve accelerates its retraction speed.

3. Common Error Codes and Troubleshooting for Solenoid Valves of KOBELCO Excavators
KOBELCO excavator solenoid valve troubleshooting methods:
▊Find the position of the solenoid valve and swap it with the interchangeable solenoid valve next to it. If the error code disappears and others are generated, this solenoid valve may be faulty.
▊In addition to the failure of the solenoid valve itself, when an error code appears, there may also be a solenoid valve wiring problem. There is an adapter between the wiring and the computer board, and service personnel are required to check the wiring harness.
