Selection of adsorbent for adsorption dryer

The choice of adsorbent is not only a cost issue, but first of all, it is related to the efficiency of the adsorption dryer.

In most cases, high-priced molecular sieves should not be the first choice adsorbent-although it has very good low water pressure adsorption characteristics.

Because compressed air is saturated air with high water content in most cases, the adsorption characteristics of molecular sieve under high water pressure may not be better than the relatively inexpensive activated alumina, and other properties such as mechanical strength, water drop resistance, regeneration energy

The consumption is even worse than that of alumina, so it is of course that activated alumina is the first choice for the adsorbent, whether it is non-thermal regeneration or heating regeneration. In the combined dryer, since the moisture has been removed in advance, the moisture in the air entering the drying tower is already very low. At this time, it is inevitable to choose molecular sieve for deep drying (below -60°C dew point).

The perfection of adsorbent regeneration has a great influence on the outlet air dew point, and the purpose of using an adsorption dryer is to obtain the air dew point that is difficult to obtain by other methods. If the dew point is sacrificed just to save regeneration energy consumption, it is not only a big mistake in the process. And it is also unfair to the adsorbent: the premature end of the service life is not the fault of the adsorbent itself, but the behavior caused by the selection and use.
