Selection and comparison of various dryers in air compressor systems

In the air compressor system, the selection of the dryer should be determined in accordance with the dry air consumption, the dryness requirements of the air equipment, the pressure, the type of air compressor... and other factors. In actual selection, the selection should be based on specific conditions, after comprehensive analysis of the above factors, and after technical and economic comparison.

(1) Model selection and capacity. When the equipment type and dryness of the air compressor station are the same, it is generally appropriate to use a non-heat regenerative adsorption dryer for medium and small capacity (≤100Nm3/min), with a larger capacity When (>100Nm3/min), it is advisable to use a heating regeneration adsorption dryer, a refrigeration type or a freeze-adsorption hybrid type.

   (2) Selection and dryness

Various compressed air drying devices have different ranges of dryness, so when selecting the model, you should choose the corresponding drying device according to the requirements of the air equipment for the dryness. If the air-consuming equipment requires the supply of compressed air with a dryness of -70°C (dew point), the heating regeneration type is generally used; if the supply of dry air at about -40°C is required, the non-heat regeneration type is generally used. When the air-consuming equipment requires the supply of dry air at about -20°C, it is better to choose a refrigerated compressed air drying device, because its energy consumption is much lower than that of the adsorption type, and the maintenance and management are convenient.

   (3) Selection and intake impurity content

The non-thermal regeneration adsorption air dryer has a short working period and a small amount of adsorbent. Therefore, when the compressed air contains oil, it will contaminate the adsorbent, reduce the adsorption capacity, and even make the adsorbent quickly invalid and cannot be used . For this reason, the non-thermal regeneration adsorption air dryer requires that the oil content in the inlet air is less than 10ppm. Usually when designing an air compressor station, the non-heat-generating adsorption air drying device is installed after the non-lubricated air compressor. For various reasons, after the oil-lubricated air compressor in the air compressor station, when a non-heat regeneration air drying device is required, a reliable oil removal device should be added at the intake end to reduce the oil content in the compressed air To <10ppm to ensure the normal operation of the air dryer. Heating regeneration adsorption type (including exhaust waste heat adsorption type), refrigerated air drying device can be used in oil or oil-free compressed air system.
