A newly installed air conditioner trips as soon as it is plugged in. What's the matter
This question is about the first use of newly purchased appliances. This question actually asked two questions: One is that the newly installed air conditioner trips as soon as it is plugged in. Why? Second, why does it stop tripping after removing the neutral wire? The Electrician's Home will answer this question from these two aspects.
[Question 1] The newly installed air conditioner trips as soon as it is plugged in. What is the reason? How to deal with it?
The newly installed air conditioner trips as soon as it is plugged in. The reason is mainly due to two aspects: one is the circuit problem, and the other is the air conditioner. In the circuit and air conditioner, there are their own reasons, so we have to analyze them separately.
One, trip caused by circuit
Reason 1: The neutral wire of the socket and the ground wire are reversed
1. The newly installed air conditioner trips as soon as it is plugged in in the circuit. The first possible cause is that the neutral wire and the ground wire are connected reversely. At this time, after we plug in the plug, the leakage switch will detect that the current vector sum in the circuit is not zero.
2. Because the neutral wire of our plug is actually the ground wire, this part of the current flows to the ground instead of back to the leakage protection switch. Therefore, the leakage protection switch will trip at this time. If it does not trip, it will be abnormal.
Processing method: At this time, we can remove the wall socket panel from the bottom box. Then check the connection of the wires on the terminal block. Under normal circumstances, the blue one should be the neutral wire, which is connected to the terminal on the left. The yellow and green color is the ground wire, which is connected to the upper terminal. If the color cannot distinguish the neutral and ground wires, use the on-off gear of the multimeter to find the neutral and ground wires. Finally, connect the neutral wire and the ground wire in the correct order.
Reason two, the socket live wire and the ground wire are connected reversely
1. When the live wire on the back of the socket is connected to the ground wire in reverse, then we plug the newly installed air conditioner into the socket panel. In fact, the neutral wire and the ground wire are connected, and the live wire is directly grounded.
2. So in this case, the leakage protection switch will also detect that the current vector sum is not zero. Because the current does not return to the leakage protection switch according to the normal loop. So it will inevitably trip at this time.
Processing method: The processing method at this time is the same as above. We need to remove the socket panel and check the specific conditions of its wiring. The standard of the socket panel wiring is: when facing the panel, the left zero and the right are grounded. According to this standard, we find the live, neutral and ground wires from the leakage protection switch and connect them to the back terminal of the socket panel. This completes the overhaul of the circuit.
Precaution:
For the above two situations, in fact, we did not strictly distinguish the color of the wires when we were wiring. Therefore, when we install the home improvement circuit, we must strictly distinguish the wire color.
For conventional, we can choose one of yellow, red, and green for the fire wire; light blue for the zero wire; yellow and green for the ground wire. In this way, you can connect the wires according to the color requirements, and you will not be wrong.
2. Tripping caused by air conditioning
Since we have newly installed the air conditioner, it trips after just plugging the plug into the socket, so the air conditioner must not be working at this time. It cannot be a trip caused by an overload of the air conditioner. Then the remaining situation is to deduct a short circuit, so we have to investigate from these two aspects. =
Reason 1: There is a short circuit or electric leakage inside the wire of the air conditioner plug. Because the air conditioner comes with a power cord. The head of the wire is a triangular plug, and the outside of the wire is insulated, so it is difficult for us to see the inside. If there is leakage or short circuit inside this wire, it will trip when the plug is inserted.
Treatment measures:
1. We first unplug the plug from the socket panel.
2. Use a multimeter to check the air conditioner power cord. Use this to determine whether there is a short circuit inside the wire.
3. Use a shaker to measure the insulation resistance of the air conditioner power cord. The requirement of the specification is not less than 0.5 megohm. If it is less than this value, there may be leakage. This eliminates the problem of the air conditioner power cord.
Reason 2: The electrical components inside the air conditioner have short circuits or leakage. Because this is a new air conditioner and has never been used, it is possible that there is a short circuit of components inside, or component leakage, etc.
Solution: At this time, we should be the after-sales personnel of the air conditioner to conduct a comprehensive investigation on our air conditioner. Here is mainly to troubleshoot the internal circuit of the air conditioner. Because the circuits inside the air conditioner are professional, it is difficult for us to troubleshoot.
[Question 2] The newly installed air conditioner trips as soon as the plug is plugged in. Why does it not trip when the neutral wire is unplugged?
There are actually two wires involved in the work of the circuit in our home, one live wire and one neutral wire. Between the live wire and the neutral wire is the phase voltage, that is, 220V, so as to realize the internal transmission of current to satisfy the normal operation of the air conditioner.
Reason analysis: If we remove the neutral wire, there will be no tripping if the protection is missing or the open circuit breaker. This is because after the neutral wire is removed, the family circuit does not have a normal loop. At this time, there is only a live wire in the circuit, so it is impossible to form a current loop. Then in this case, the leakage protection switch cannot detect the leakage current. Of course, the air conditioner cannot work at this time.
There are circuit failures and electrical failures in the family, what are the correct handling steps?
1. Eliminate the cause of electrical appliances. For example, we have newly installed air conditioners, so at this time, we need to find the after-sales maintenance personnel of the air conditioners to check our air conditioners and troubleshoot the air conditioners.
2. Check the switches in our homes. The switch here refers to the leakage switch, and we must ensure that the leakage protection switch can operate accurately and effectively, rather than often malfunctioning. This eliminates the problem of the switch.
Three, check the wiring of the circuit in the home. For example, a certain socket in the house trips as soon as a plug is inserted. We need to check the wiring on the back of the socket to see if it is consistent with the requirements.
